Subject Overview
Sociology encourages students to understand and explain the structure of society, social relationships, and institutions.
Curriculum Intent
To develop critical thinking and the ability to evaluate social theories and concepts. Students learn to analyse patterns of behaviour and understand contemporary issues in depth
Curriculum Implementation
The curriculum is delivered with flipped learning alongside structured lessons, hands-on learning, and regular formative assessments. Lessons are sequenced to build on prior knowledge and prepare students for examinations.

Assessment and Feedback
KS3: Not part of the KS3 curriculum but preparatory skills are embedded in English and Humanities.
GCSE: Two written exams form the assessment. Students practice extended answers, use of key terms, and evaluation of sociological research. Feedback focuses on developing analytical depth.
Future Pathways
Sociology supports pathways into social work, law, criminology, education, psychology, and human resources. It builds research, analysis, and communication skills.
